What is an all-on-4 implant?

All-on-4 implants are a surgical technique that uses four strategically positioned dental implants to support and anchor a complete fixed prosthesis (bridge) spanning an entire upper or lower jaw.

An all-on-4 implant is a full-mouth restoration method that restores an entire arch of teeth using just four implants placed in the jawbone. Two implants are positioned in the front of the jaw (anterior region), while two are angled toward the back (posterior region), taking advantage of existing bone density and minimising the need for bone grafting in many cases.

The four implants serve as anchors for a fixed prosthesis, which is typically a metal-reinforced acrylic or porcelain bridge that spans the full arch from one back molar region to the other. This bridge is either screwed or cemented onto the implants, providing a permanent restoration that functions like natural teeth. Patients cannot remove the prosthesis themselves.

The technique suits people with significant tooth loss, advanced wear, or those unable to wear traditional dentures. By working with limited implant fixtures, it reduces surgical complexity and often allows for same-day or expedited loading protocols compared to traditional multi-implant approaches. When seeking dental implant providers, many clinics in Kuala Lumpur now offer all-on-4 solutions as a fixed alternative to removable dentures, restoring both chewing capacity and speech clarity.
